Founded by Matt and Nicki Broad, Energise Personal Fitness offers bespoke personal fitness and swim training packages for a wide range of clients seeking to improve their health, well-being, fitness or body shape. Whether it’s training for a particular sport, competition, weight loss or staying fit, our aim is to support all our clients through genuine motivation, interaction and attention to our clients goals.

After  successful and rewarding careers in the NHS, we decided that our knowledge and skills of providing medical care would allow us to deliver an exceptional professional approach to health and fitness training. Combined with our own passion for fitness and competition, our professional medical experience allows us to fully understand the working of the human body and how to maximise fitness training to achieve the best results. Our team has been carefully recruited to offer our clients the most highly skilled and knowledgeable trainers in the area.

Our Fitness Studio

Operating from our exclusive private studio, Energise Personal Fitness is powered by Matrix Fitness – our preferred fitness equipment supplier. Acorn Lodge is equipped with the very latest, high specification cardiovascular machines and fitness equipment. Clients of Energise Personal Fitness will have the exclusive use of the studio during their 1-2-1 training sessions. Our studio is not open to the general public nor do we operate a gym only membership. Situated in private grounds, parking is available and we have made our studio child welcoming. We are the only personal fitness company to have a fully equipped treatment room and sports therapist available to provide sports massage therapies on site.

Our Endless Pool

Due to open in the autumn of 2020, our performance Endless Pool system has been designed to allow swimmers of all abilities to train, be taught and coached in East Anglia’s only professional Endless Pool system. Equipped with underwater camera technology, the endless pool allows our experienced coaching team to analysis and develop swimmers looking to develop their technique and performance.

  • 1-2-1 Personal training following a free consultation and assessment of fitness
  • Train clients to the highest standards by providing the most current methods of fitness training. Energise trainers are qualified to deliver the Optimum Performance Training model to clients. The OPT model is based on the scientific rationale of human movement science
  • Enhanced specialisation training to provide personal training to pre/post natal woman (our studio accommodates babies and young children), weight loss and youth clients strength and conditioning.
  • Unique family and friends packages for fitness training as a couple or family
  • Brides and grooms fitness packages
  • Bespoke packages for corporate organisations to support well being agendas and employees health and fitness
  • Virtual fitness training and nutrition programmes for anyone wishing to have a structured programme created without personal training. Consultations and regular follow up progress reviews conducted  via FaceTime or Skype
  • Nutrition – free individualised analysis of food diaries along with nutrition advice for all personal training package clients. We can provide nutritional analysis and advice as a standalone package.

Nicki Broad

Nicki brings a wealth of knowledge in health and fitness to Energise, as well as competing in a range of sports to international level. Nicki is educated to degree level having attained a 2:1 BA (Hons) in Leisure and Recreation Management with a specialism in sports science from the University of Glamorgan. Nicki moved into the leisure industry after university and trained as a fitness instructor. Nicki joined the NHS Ambulance Service and qualified as a paramedic in 2004.

Nicki is a qualified STA swim teacher and has attained Team GB age group qualification standard in sprint triathlon distance. Nicki competed in the 2019 ETU European Championships Kazan, Russia in July 2019 attaining a top ten finish. Alongside her love of triathlon, Nicki enjoys Netball, Tennis and Hockey and has competed at county level. In 2020 she is due to compete in the European and World Aqua Bike Championships.

Nicki is a mother of 2 and knows how finding time to exercise can be a challenge:

“I understand the challenges of being a busy mum and balancing a hectic home and work life along with finding time to train. With the right motivation, drive and support you can achieve anything! I set my challenges after having my children to qualify for GB triathlon age group and have achieved this. This from entering into the sport only a few years ago. Hard work, dedication and motivation really has shown to prove you can achieve ambitious goals”

Matt Broad

Matt was born in North West Kent. After completing his formal education, Matt joined the NHS Ambulance Service to begin a 21 year career with the NHS. Matt left the NHS in September 2018, his last post being an Executive Director. During his successful career in the NHS, he attained a wide range of experiences from providing emergency paramedic care to chairing a committee of a national charity.

Matt is a qualified FA coach and his sporting passions include endurance cycling, football, triathlon with a focus on strength and conditioning. Matt has participated in many endurance cycling and running events including a 999 mile road cycling event, charity cycle event between the Blackpool Tower and the Eiffel Tower in Paris as well as competing in many 5/10km races, triathlons and half/full marathons.

"For me health and fitness are so important. It doesn't matter if you compete or train to keep healthy, getting involved in keeping fit brings so many benefits. I am passionate about helping others achieve their goals and especially working with families and younger clients who have embraced a fitness challenge. Nicki and I have created Energise to do just this, our motivation is to see the changes we help make happen making a real difference to the lives of our clients"

Dave Harrison

As an ex national level swimmer, I have now been involved in competitive swimming for nearly 30 years. I have been teaching swimming for 17 years and for the past 7 years, competitive swimming coaching has been my profession.

I hold an ASA/UKCC Level 3 certificate for Coaching Performance Swimming and am employed as the Head Age Group Coach for West Suffolk Swimming Club.

I also perform a number of roles on the Swim England Talent Pathway. I lead the County Development Programme for Suffolk. I was selected as Head Coach for 2020 on the East Region Development Programme and I have also been selected to coach on the Swim England National Development Programme for the past 3 years.

  • Ryan Horne

    Ryan started his fitness journey in his chosen sport of football. Having played at every level of amateur football, the pinnacle of his career was playing professional for Cambridge United. He still continues play and is now at Bury Town FC. Ryan is a qualified level 3 personal fitness trainer and a level 4 strength and conditioning coach. With a specialist interest in performance conditioning and supporting pre and post menopausal women, Ryan complements our team and enables us to offer a full range of trainers to meet everyone of our clients needs fully. In joining Energise Ryan said "Its great to work in an amazing environment with a great team around me. The studio and outside spaces make training a joy and our clients love the secluded setting and being trained in private on a 1:2:1 basis. Many other companies have started to train in small groups but Energise focus on the individual which means our clients gain even more from the knowledge and skills of the team to reach their goals".
